Ben began playing the organ when he was 5 years old after spending much of his time being looked after by his Grandmother, Valerie Snowdon, whilst his Mother was at work. Valerie owned a Wersi Helios, and Ben would spend many hours playing on this instrument imitating the sounds his Grandmother would play on her LPs from various artists.

Valerie was a huge fan of the German organists Franz Lambert and Klaus Wunderlich, and it would be this sound that made Ben fall in love with the Wersi brand.

In 1995, Ben and his Grandmother were lucky enough to see the late, great Klaus Wunderlich himself, on his last tour of the UK before his untimely death in 1997. At the end of the concert, Ben queued to meet his idol and the autographed picture still hangs in Bens studio to this day, alongside his autographed Franz Lambert LP.

In 2001, Valerie bought Ben his very own Wersi Spectra and pushed Ben towards a career as an organist.

For many years, Ben ran his own Pub and concentrated hard on his career and his newborn son, Cameron
